Sardar Nagar Sarvajanik Dasera Mandal 2011 - Day 3 - Bhondla

As it was a Friday, many women adorned in beautiful saris and jewellery had come to pay visit to their endearing goddess and seek blessings for their family’s well-being. They offered the goddess saris, coconut, rice and fruits (the ritual is known as ‘Ooti Bharani’). After the daily aarti, commenced a special programme arranged mainly for women known as ‘Bhondla’. The main organizer of the show was Mrs. Anjali from “Sanskruti Manch”- Mahim.

As the event has been already arranged for three conservative years and had been an instant hit, it remained to be so this year. Mrs. Anjali started the event with such zeal and vigor, that every woman was compelled to be a part of it. Mrs. Anjali made every lady dance, sing & play fugdi, and enjoy to the fullest. Even men and kids were equally drawn in the game.

Sardar Nagar Sarvajanik Dasera Mandal 2011 - Day 2 - Fancy Dress Competition

All the bhakt assembled for the aarti at 8 p.m. on the next day. From the young to the old everyone joined in for the aarti. Another big event that followed was ‘Fancy Dress Competition’ for the kids. Children aged 1-to 12 participated in the competition. It was a looker’s sight as kids dressed as Jhansi ki Rani, Anna Hazare, Mermaid & Japanese doll stole the show.

Day 1

After a year long wait our dearest Maa has come back to bless us all. Though she is always in our hearts and her blessings are always with us her descending has always been celebrated with great pomp and splendor. This year our Sardar Nagar Sarvajanik Mandal has entered into its 53rd year of grandeur.

All the young guns with the guidance from our peers are all set to organize this event at its fullest.  On 28th of September, the idol of Durga Maa was brought. It was around 7.30 p.m. when the auspicious ceremony took place. Happiness was self found on everyone’s face as they tuned into and danced at the rhythms of puneri dhol. The idol once placed in the pandal, consequently led to pooja and Maha Aarti.

As the stars began to peep in, brought out another ‘stars’ of the night. The ‘Gondhali’s’ were called in where they performed devotional songs to please the goddess and seek her blessings. The night was occupied with devotion and love for our dearest maa, as the gondhali’s sang praises for the goddess.

Day 8th- Bhandara

The day has risen for which the people had been eagerly waiting for.

Yes, the day when the Bhandara has been organized, the preparations were from the earlier night itself. Since yesterday it was ashtami, Hom Havan was also organized. Also for the same all children to elders were very much helpful towards the same. The hom havan had to be scheduled in the morning. The shubh mahuraht given was at 7.       The hom was started by the pujari who performed all the rituals accordingly and all others were asked to take blessings of the same later. After taking the hom havan’s  blessings,we feel peaceful. Since the Bhandara had to be done, there were preparations for the same which came to a rise in the later morning. Though there was a huge line for darshan of Devi, there was also a huge hurry for the final touching of the Bhandara. From all children to the elders, everyone gave a helping hand to the making of the meals of Bhandara.

Finally the evening came up when the Bhandara had to be scheduled. It was around 7, the aarti of the evening was done earlier today. There after the Bhandara started. There was a huge line of devotees for the mahaprasad of the Devi. Every year there are around 10,000 people who come up for the mahaprasad. And it is a belief that the number is increasing. This year the organization was very well planned. For the old people there was arrangement such that they did not have to sit down. They could sit in the arranged chair and table. Many children came up to serve the food to the people sitting for the mahaprasad. The mahaprasad included rice, dal, bhaji, papad, pickle and jelabi.  Also there were provisions for the hand washing outside the colony which made lesser rush to the Bhandara. It is all because of the Devi’s blessings that everything went fine.

Hope each year we prove successful to provide mahaprasad to one and all.

Day 7th - Satyanarayan Pooja

On the seventh day of Navratri, Satyanarayan Poojahad been arranged. The preparations commence right from the previous night. Everyone lend a hand for the preparation; with the kids at their enthusiastic best. We were all decked up with the arrangements. Mr. & Mrs. Abhijit were given the honour for the pooja which started at 4 p.m.  The Satyanarayan pooja lasted till the evening which ended up delightfully.        Shortly everyone took the blessing of the Satyanarayan god and asked for prosperity & peace. Latter was the program for women; Haldi-Kumkum. Since the color of the day was yellow, all women were magnificently clad in traditional yellow saris. The brilliant yellow colour was seen harmoniously flowing throughout the evening. Then began the evening aarti where everyone came to seek the blessing of the Devi Maa.

The most hyped event of the day, which began with zest, was Disco Dandiya.  The youngistaanis were enjoying dandiya with full vigor. Their high spirits were never dampened by their tired bodies. After such wonderful performances by everyone, many of the group went to the Bhandara organized by the community of building no 7.  Then we started making preparation for the next day. Bhandara had to be organized here which was an arduous and demanding task. Everyone lend their hand for this. Keeping the campus clean to making arrangements for the next morning was the task of the day. Even the results of the drawing and memory test were displayed near the gate.

Thus the seventh day got over with a lot of activities; with the preparations for the next day on the rise. Thus all this made the day and night full of excitement and joy.

Day Sixth......

The Sixth day has risen and the Goddess turns out to be more and more beautiful each day when we look at Her. The glow Mata possess, the look which makes a day go in peace. In the morning, there is not much rush of the devotees. People from far off come up right in the morning to take up the blessings of the ‘Devi’ to make their day beautiful as ‘Devi’, peaceful as Herself  and successful as She was successful in killing the Raakshash Myshasur

The color of the day was blue and all we can seen was little one to elder ones dressed up in blue. Throughout the day, there were devotees visiting to seek darshan. But as soon as there was sunset, the people around got enthusiastic to perform aarti. The evening aarti of the SNSDM is so beautiful, that one who attends it, will come up willingly the other day since it has all the aarti which has been done with such an energy.
Immediately after aarti, all were set to play ‘Disco Dandiya’. It was very beautiful to see everyone dance to the tunes of DJ. All were enjoying themselves to the fullest. The Dandiya ended up around 11. Later we saw a small group of boys of around 15 performing B-Boying. It was unbelievable to see such small stars performing difficult stunts such as Headstands and all. Their performance lasted around 30 minutes but while watching you wouldn’t have wanted to blink your eye, because every step was fantastic and amazing. Later the youths made jagaran at night in the pandalToday’s refreshment were juices and delicious “BIRYANI” and “CHOLE PAV”, after the refreshments night went on….while at night the results were decided of the drawing and memory test competitions.

These nights are more exciting just likely the nights fought by Maa Durga.
